Building Relationships on Facebook “The Right Way”

“Recipe for Success” Networking & Social Media for your business

August 18, 2010

Todays topic: Building Relationships on Facebook…

Positive Attitude:

Maintain a positive attitude even when you have a bad day. Find something that inspires you. Like a video that really pumps you up and helps keep your passion for your business alive. My favorite inspiring video is the “Football death crawl”. You can find it on my Blog, You Tube and Facebook!

Never post anything negative about your status on your wall. We want to attract positive people into our lives. What you put out to the world is what comes back to you!

Finding Your Niche…

You want to attract other like- minded people to you. Go to the search and type in your niche and you can find people that you can start building relationships with. Associating yourself with others who think as you can create a “synergy” that would be difficult to produce on your own.

Building Relationships

When you “friend” somebody on Facebook, take the time to introduce yourself. Send an email, instant message or post something on their wall.

Schedule a one on one in person or over the phone. You want to cultivate the relationship first. People buy from people they know, like and trust. And in order to get to that point, you need to cultivate the relationship. Go to my videos to see my intro video.

When meeting in person or over the phone, let them talk about themselves first. People love to talk about themselves, so make them feel special. You can meet with them a second time and tell them more about your product or service.

I try to keep in touch by calling, emailing, instant messages or sending a card. Keep the lines of communication going.

Develop a group page….. This will help build your number of friends and you can connect with people that are in your niche.

Join other groups to meet more like minded business owners. You can find groups by typing in what you are looking for in the search section.

Sign up on other social media sites such as YouTube, Linked In and Twitter. When on someone’s Facebook profile look for the sites they are signed up in and request to be their friend or follower on those sites.

Your Facebook Wall:

Sign up on ping.fm With this site you can post your status and it will go out to all your social media. It’s easier than going to each one and posting your status.

Post your events to your wall and add a link for people to RSVP.

Post your blog, YouTube videos, group or fan page for people to join. A great way for like minded business owners to connect and share ideas.

Post fan pages, group pages and blogs of friends and add their links, so like minded people can connect with them.

Post testimonials about other Facebook friends that you have connected with. Building relationships is about showing others you like them not selling them your product!

Post an inspirational quote…. Quotes inspires others and keeps the positive attitude going…

When you attend a business event take pictures and post them on your wall, then tag your facebook friends who are in the picture(s)

Have your clients and Facebook friends post testimonials on your blog and link to your Facebook Page. Or if you don’t have a Blog just have them post it straight to your Facebook Wall.

Father’s Day History

Mrs. John B. Dodd, of Washington, first proposed the idea of a “father’s day” in 1909. Mrs. Dodd wanted a special day to honor her father, William Smart. William Smart, a Civil War veteran, was widowed when his wife (Mrs. Dodd’s mother) died in childbirth with their sixth child. Mr. Smart was left to raise the newborn and his other five children by himself on a rural farm in eastern Washington state. It was after Mrs. Dodd became an adult that she realized the strength and selflessness her father had shown in raising his children as a single parent.

The first Father’s Day was observed on June 19, 1910 in Spokane Washington.

A heartfelt greeting card will make your Father feel so special. Don’t forgot to send him a CARD!! Call me and I will set you on a free account to try the system..

Make the time to SAY THANKS!

How many times have you told yourself “I just don’t have time to send a Thank You note”? Well, the truth is, you have to make little pockets of time to send a Thank You Note. It will really make a difference in how well you do in business. Why should we show our appreciation? It’s because they like to feel appreciated and know you took the time to send a card. Showing your appreciation brings it beyond a professional level and brings it to a more personal one. People prefer to do business with those they like. Taking the time to show your appreciation lays the foundation to cultivating a long term business/personal relationship. In other words you are starting the relationship off on the right foot.

When should we show our appreciation? After any meeting, especially when meeting them for the first time. Most people in business will send an email, summarizing their meeting and thanking them for their time. But to make yourself stand out from the rest, follow this up with a thank you card. It says to them that you consider their time spent with you a gift they gave to you. And as with any gift, your card proves your appreciation of such.

Some other great appreciation reasons:

Thank you for talking with me on the telephone.
Thank you for meeting with me.
Thank you for your business.
Thank you for your kind referral.
Thank you for being my client
Thank you for the excellent service you have provided for me.
Thank you for using our service/product (sent at one year anniversary).

Showing your appreciation goes a long way in establishing any relationship. And no matter what always make the time.
To Success!

Importance of Relationship Marketing

Why focus on relationship marketing?

Customer relationships are the lifeblood of every good company. Relationships between a company and their customers, distributors, employees, referral sources, are vital to continued, sustained growth, and stability. Loyal relationships with these valued individuals make for a strong bottom line. So, why do so few companies focus on customer relationship marketing? That’s a great question, and probably the most frequent answer is lack of understanding of the potential profits in keeping existing customers happy versus constantly acquiring new ones.

When you consider that two-thirds of customers switch from one company to another because of a perceived attitude of indifference from the former company, it makes sense to focus as much attention on customer retention as you do on customer acquisition. Don’t be a victim of indifference. Develop a good relationship marketing program that takes into consideration both customer relationship marketing, and customer acquisition through relationship marketing. With well-planned relationship marketing efforts, like a greeting card campaign using our system, you can impact retention — and that will impact the bottom line.

According to customer relationship management experts, companies can increase revenue by 50% if they retain only 5% more of their customers. Don’t you want your share of that revenue? Our system is the way to put the process of keeping those dollars on autopilot.

Solidify loyal relationships with your most valuable customers.

Business owners tend to be driven, both financially and philosophically, to make cold calls, pursue new contacts, and acquire new customers. But often, little thought is given to nurturing relationships with the customers they already have. Given that acquiring a new customer can cost five times more than retaining an existing one, this can be a costly approach.

Customers who are continuously courted, interacted with, and reminded of your company’s presence are less likely to go racing off when competitors come calling. Making those customers feel recognized, known and appreciated can go a long way toward locking up their loyalty. And, it’s also a great way to get them referring others.

Restore broken relationships and win back business.

Regardless of how effective your customer retention efforts are, some relationships will inevitably break down. For various reasons, certain customers will suspend their relationship with you and your business. But those relationships aren’t lost. You can win back these once-valuable customers.

Often times, repairing a broken relationship is more efficient than trying to build one from scratch. But many companies make the mistake of attempting to re-acquire lost customers in the same way that they acquire new ones. But failing to use what you know about those past customers — and what they know about you — to your advantage can cost you time and money. Our automated greeting card system lets you minimize the potential for losing a client or customer, and also streamlines the process of acquiring new ones, all at a cost that cannot be matched in any other customer acquisiton or retention system. So, if you have not formulated a marketing plan that includes a focus on relationship marketing with an automated tool like ours, you owe it to yourself and to your business to try it out today.
